A good long tail question describes a situation, a constraint and a decision. To find useful topics, start from trade and support, then check the observable searches. The objective is to solve a specific problem, without multiplying the pages that reformulate the same answer.

Collect authentic formulations

Gather questions received in appointments, objections before signature and hesitation after delivery. Remove unnecessary names and personal information. Preserve the words of the public: “Keep my old pages” can be more telling than “editorial migration”. Each wording must remain understandable without knowing the client's file. Note the decision context rather than the person's identity.

Group questions by the decision they support

Divide the questions between comprehension, comparison, preparation and resolution of an incident. The same expression can cover several needs. For each group, indicate what the player should be able to decide after reading. If a page already responds well to this decision, enrich it instead of creating a variant. The number of keywords should not mechanically become the number of pages.

Moving from a wording to a topic without creating duplicates

The work begins with a topic sheet. It contains the exact question, the reader's situation, the decision to be made and the nearest existing page. Add what is missing to answer: a condition, an example, a comparison or a procedure. If the answer is already present but hard to find, the right action can be a better title or an internal link, not a new article.

Fictitious examples of grouping redesign questions
Formulation receiveddecision to helpEditorial processing
Can I keep my old addresses?Prepare for URL migrationA guide to matches and redirects
Should I keep each old item?Choose useful contentAn editorial review related to the migration guide
How long will the recovery take?Identify planning dependenciesAn explanation of the necessary steps and information
Who answers if a form no longer works?Understanding responsibility after deliveryAccuracy on the tracking and maintenance page

These four questions speak of redesign, but they do not ask for the same decision. Conversely, “Keep my URLs” and “Keep my page addresses” may fall under the same article. Regrouping by need reduces the risk of publishing several variants that compete with each other. It also makes the library easier to browse for a business manager who doesn't know your technical vocabulary.

Check the request without inventing a volume

Search Console queries give clues about searches where your site appeared; They do not represent all market issues. Cross them with the requests received. An absence of data does not prove an absence of need. For a specialized activity, a rarely asked but decisive question can justify concrete content.

Fictional example: changing CMS

Instead of an article on the best CMS, process “Can we keep URLs when changing CMS? ”. Describe the inventory of old addresses, new routes and redirects to prepare. Specify that some structures will not be preserved as they are. This answer prepares a technical discussion and completes a redesign guide instead of duplicating it.

A reusable brief to write a full answer

  1. Write an initial response that indicates the main condition. For URL retention, specify that the possibility depends on the destination structure and the available inventory.
  2. Describe the information to be prepared and their use. A list of old addresses should make it possible to decide their destination, not just to count pages.
  3. Add a borderline case: an abandoned page, an old unparalleled URL or an offer that no longer exists. Explain when to examine the file rather than give an automatic response.
  4. Finish with a proportionate action: fill in an inventory, compare two pages or prepare for an exchange. The reader must know what he can do on his own and what requires examination.

To validate the brief, ask a concerned person to explain the next step in their own words. If it still has to look elsewhere for a central condition, complete the answer. This proofreading is a proposed method, not a measured ranking factor. The Google quality questions help control utility; Research volumes and competition remain to be studied with data adapted to your market.

Then link the subject to a near page, for example the Cannibalization diagnosis. The expected result is a set of distinct responses that lead to the actual services offered, not an accumulation of pages built around lexical variants.

When the need varies throughout the year, complete the selection with a Calendar based on seasonality. Search clues can help choose a period, but the company's conditions and capabilities remain to be confirmed.

Write a standalone answer

Announce the answer at the beginning, then detail conditions, steps and expected result. Add an original example and a link to the sequel, without repeating the keywords in each subtitle. Have a person read the text: Does she know what to prepare for and what still depends on an exam? Link content to Journey between research and action.
