    Search visibility

    Be easier to find online

Visibility is useful only when the right audience reaches a page that answers its question. We clarify the identity of the activity, services, audiences, locations, proof points and next actions, then organise this information into pages with descriptive headings and logical internal links. Technical checks support the editorial work by addressing crawlability, indexing, mobile display, performance and structured data where relevant. The approach combines search engine optimisation with visitor experience: a page should be discoverable, but it should also help a person understand, compare and act. Rankings, traffic and AI citations cannot be guaranteed, so progress is assessed through relevant queries, useful visits and the quality of enquiries over time.

The goal is to make the website clearer for visitors, easier to maintain and better organised for search engines, local discovery and AI-assisted answers.

    Your situation

Connect search intent to a page people can use.

SEO and search experience work is useful when relevant people cannot find the site, or when visits do not lead to understanding and appropriate enquiries. The analysis follows the whole path from a query to a page, its evidence and its next action. It does not treat rankings or traffic as the only outcome.

    Start with pages that matter

Choose a manageable set of service, comparison and contact pages. For each, write the visitor’s likely question, the answer currently visible, the proof available and the action offered. Compare search queries and landing pages with actual customer questions to find missing or mismatched information.

    Fix discovery and comprehension together

Check crawlability, canonical URLs, headings, titles, internal links and page speed alongside the wording of the offer. A technically indexable page can still be vague. Improve the first-screen answer, scope, conditions and examples before adding more keyword variations.

    Measure useful change

Track the relevant queries and pages, but also whether enquiries are better qualified and whether visitors can complete key tasks. Note the date of each content or technical change. Search systems need time to recrawl, and movement in one metric cannot by itself prove that a particular edit caused it. A useful report connects the search query, landing page and enquiry qualified against agreed criteria. A relevant enquiry might concern an offered service in an area actually covered. Keep missing data distinct from zero results and annotate campaign or tracking changes. Then choose an identifiable page and obstacle to improve.

    What to prepare

    • Priority services, real coverage and questions received before contact.
    • Available analytics, covered period and known collection limitations.
    • Anonymised examples of relevant and out-of-scope enquiries.
    • A person to verify changes to public claims

    How to verify the result

    • Each selected page provides the expected answer and a next action consistent with the query.
    • Useful URLs are accessible and their directives, canonicals and internal links agree.
    • Monitoring distinguishes impressions, visits, contact clicks and enquiries actually received.

Continue with the practical guide: Measure useful outcomes.

    Decision points

Connect a query, an answer and an action

    Situation to examine

More visits do little good if the landing page misses the need or generates unsuitable enquiries. Visibility changes can also follow seasonality, a changed URL, indexing or declining relevance. Compare pages and queries before drawing a conclusion.

    Choice to make

Select a few journeys: searched question, landing page, expected information, available proof and next action. Fix gaps that prevent understanding first. A new page is justified when a distinct question cannot be answered fully on an existing one.

    Evidence of success

Track relevant pages, useful queries and enquiry quality against a known reference period. Log changes and test the mobile journey; the position of one keyword cannot validate the whole effort.

More clicks can coincide with a lower click-through rate

Fictional teaching example · no client result or live site measurement

Two fictional 28-day periods use the same page, country, device and search-type filters. Click volume and click-through rate describe different changes here.

    1. Same scope
    2. Counts and denominators
    3. Interpretation to check

On a small screen, scroll the table horizontally to read all three columns.

    Fictional observations to interpret
    PeriodImpressions and clicksClick-through rate
    A · 28 days1,000 impressions · 40 clicks40 ÷ 1,000 × 100 = 4%
    B · 28 days2,000 impressions · 60 clicks60 ÷ 2,000 × 100 = 3%
    Difference B − A+1,000 impressions · +20 clicks−1 percentage point
    Click-through rate · shared scale from 0 to 5%
    Period A4 %
    Period B3 %
    What can we conclude?

Clicks rise by 50%, while the rate moves from 4% to 3%, a drop of one percentage point. Both observations can be true. They do not by themselves prove a less effective title or an increase in qualified enquiries.

    What should be checked next?

Inspect the queries and pages contributing to the change, then the journey after the click. Consider seasonality and changes in visibility before attributing the result to an edit.

    What makes this check reusable?

Context to specify : Search Console property, dates, search type and matching comparison filters.

Evidence to retain : Keep clicks and impressions together; record page changes and scope changes.

Decision to prepare : Break down contributing queries before connecting the difference to a website change.

Explore the check further : Review website visibility in Search Console

Scope and limits : The counts are fictional. Equal-length periods may have different contexts; a comparison does not establish causation.

    Frequently asked questions

Detailed answers about scope, decisions and delivery.

First check whether the visits match the service and its audience. Then examine the first-screen explanation, trust signals, conditions and contact path. A clearer offer or simpler form may matter more than attracting additional unrelated traffic.

No. Related questions often belong on one complete page when they support the same decision. A separate page is useful when it has a distinct purpose, enough specific information and a clear place in the site’s navigation.

A page may be indexed but rarely seen, or visited without helping people act. Compare queries, landing pages, expected information and enquiries. Available evidence guides diagnosis; identify missing data instead of replacing it with invented estimates.

Choose a task and reference period: understanding an offer, useful enquiries or finding information. Document modified pages and check the mobile journey. One keyword position cannot explain contact quality.

First verify collection and message delivery. Then compare landing pages, needs, locations and services sought. More visitors outside scope or seeking general information does not necessarily mean more relevant commercial enquiries.

Check Google controls and measure AI impressions

Google documentation consulted on 9 October 2026 now distinguishes an inclusion control for generative Search features and a dedicated performance report. In Search Console, check the relevant property’s setting and any inheritance before interpreting missing visibility. Inclusion establishes eligibility, not a guaranteed citation. This control does not replace indexing, snippet controls or controls concerning model training.

The generative AI report describes impressions in the covered features. Compare consistent periods, final pages, devices and countries. An absent report may reflect insufficient volume; it does not by itself establish exclusion. Separate impressions from visits and actual enquiries. Without property access, both the setting and results remain unverified.
