Business services: make proposals comparable

A business service becomes easier to assess when its scope, deliverables and departure conditions are explicit. The site can prepare a useful discussion without giving the illusion of a quote adapted to all situations.

These files describe preparation methods. They do not present customer achievements and do not replace the validation of information by the organization concerned.

Describe the supported issue

Name the situations to which the service responds and those that come out of its scope. Give the necessary information to decide on a first exchange. One page per service must explain a different decision; A repetition of the same speech with several keywords does not facilitate comparison.

Make deliverables visible

Explain what is given, in what form and how the customer can use it. Distinguish between diagnosis, recommendation and implementation. An anonymized and authorized example can show the level of detail, but it should not be presented as a result obtained for all customers.

Clarify dependencies and limits

Specify the customer's expected contributions, necessary access and validation steps. A delay sometimes depends on external documents or decisions; Indicate this dependency. For an indicative budget, explain hypotheses and positions that may change.

Prepare for qualification contact

The form should make it possible to describe the situation, priorities and constraints without becoming a complete call for tenders. Check the recipient according to the chosen service. Confirmation announces the actual next step and does not promise an immediate technical response if an analysis is needed.

Link proof and perimeter

A case study distinguishes initial context, intervention and verified result. Specify what relates to the work done and what depends on other factors. Do not publish a percentage without period and method. When a reference is not published, prefer a clearly identified educational example.

Information to gather before writing

  • Situations covered and exclusions
  • Deliverables and validation criteria
  • Customer expected contributions
  • Time and budget assumptions
  • Authorized and contextualized evidence

For each item, keep the source, the person validating it and the language versions concerned. Missing information must become a question to solve, never a value invented to fill the page.

A content model to maintain

A B2B service record should make scope and collaboration conditions comparable. The problem, required inputs and deliverable matter more than a list of unsupported benefits.

The file contains this table and blank columns for the observed result, owner and follow-up. It opens in a spreadsheet; downloading it does not send your observations to the site.

A focused next step

When the offer changes, compare service pages, downloadable material and sales responses. Ask someone outside the team to describe the deliverable; if they cannot separate the core service from an option, clarify the scope.

Learning scenario

A scenario for planning the user journey

Preparation exercise: A prospect identifies a difficulty, compares two interventions and then requests an exchange. Use a demonstration need and break down the service into perimeter, deliverable and dependencies. A pedagogical case can explain a method without becoming a customer reference. Show the information that the service provider should receive before proposing a commitment. The reader must understand the difference between a first analysis, a proposal and an accepted service.

Documents and information to prepare

  • Scope and exclusions of each intervention
  • Examples of representative and authorized deliverables
  • Information needed for initial diagnosis
  • Conditions of passage between request, proposal and contract
  • Customer references only when documented

Acceptance criteria

These criteria are a working basis to adapt to the context. For each, note the action taken, the expected result, the observed result and the information remaining to be confirmed.

  1. Two close services expose their concrete differences.
  2. An example deliverable is identified as such.
  3. Customer dependencies appear before the request.
  4. A teaching method is not presented as a client result.
  5. The form allows you to specify the main difficulty.
  6. The confirmation describes the next step without automatic promise.

Ongoing management and handover

Collect the elements that actually change a proposal: existing environment, available people, provided content and calendar. Review the descriptions when the scope of an intervention evolves. If an example is anonymized, keep the necessary proof and authorization for its publication. A promise of result should specify how it will be evaluated; Otherwise, describe the work and expected deliverables.

Organize site maintenance

Compare two approaches

Prospective customers need to know whether a service fits their situation before booking a meeting. Compare a direct contact request workflow with one that first helps them clarify their needs.

Direct contact

When to choose it
Suitable for a straightforward offer or an existing relationship. A short description of the need, organisation and preferred response method may be enough.
What to plan for
Arrange routing to the right team and identify what to ask next. A short form still needs practical follow-up.

Needs-based qualification

When to choose it
Useful when different services address different situations. Offer clear choices to guide the initial discussion.
What to plan for
Keep an option for needs that are difficult to categorise. Avoid requiring a precise budget before the visitor understands the offer.

A risk to anticipate

Case studies must distinguish verified facts, work delivered and limitations. An educational example is not proof of work for a client.

How to decide

Review contact requests that are hard to route. Add explanations only when they improve routing, and check that unusual needs can still be described.

Frequently asked questions

publish a starting price?

It is useful if its assumptions and exclusions are understandable. An isolated price can make two different services artificially comparable.

Create case studies without a customer name?

Yes if the content is authorized and if the context makes it possible to understand the intervention. A pedagogical scenario must remain identified as such.

How many fields to qualify?

Ask for information that changes the orientation of the first exchange. Additional details can be collected next.

Must a case study always report numerical results?

No. It can explain the problem, constraints, decisions and deliverable. Numerical results need a known, approved source, period and method. Explaining limitations is more useful than publishing an isolated number.
