    Media, information and verification

A recent post can reuse an old image. Before sharing, identify the exact claim and the evidence supporting it.

    Getting started

Find author, date and original document; compare with another source and distinguish fact, interpretation and opinion.

    Before deciding

A search result or AI detector alone cannot validate a claim. Missing evidence does not automatically establish falsehood.

Choose a source and keep useful references

    Compare resources

UNESCO addresses media education; AFP presents a verification method. A learning activity and an investigation of a claim have complementary roles.

    Prepare your research

Keep the exact claim, original publication, date, evidence and copies. State what is confirmed, contradicted or undetermined without forcing a conclusion.

    Practical questions

How can I examine an image presented as recent?

Look for an earlier publication and compare setting, caption and context. Keep links supporting the comparison; finding an old image helps check dating but does not settle every accompanying claim.

Do two identical articles provide two confirmations?

Trace their origin: both may repeat one press release or message. Seek independently obtained evidence and the primary document; counting copies does not multiply proof of a claim.
